PROJECT MANAGER – BUILDING AUTOMATION / CONTROLS What You’ll Do:
As a Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of automation and controls projects from sale to closeout. You’ll lead internal teams and external partners while managing customer relationships, project financials, and technical execution. With a mix of leadership, planning, and hands-on involvement, this role ensures that every project is delivered profitably, on time, and with a satisfied client. Key Responsibilities:
Own the Customer Relationship:
Lead client meetings, negotiate and finalize contracts, and maintain strong partnerships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Drive Project Execution:
Plan and oversee all phases—from concept engineering through install, commissioning, and turnover. Collaborate with the engineering team and field personnel to ensure quality, code compliance, and customer expectations are met.
Financial Management:
Monitor and control job costs, cash flow, and billings. Ensure projects meet profitability targets and that billing is timely, accurate, and clearly communicated.
Team Coordination:
Assign and guide technical resources, resolve site issues, and support commissioning activities. Work closely with internal engineers and field teams to ensure smooth execution.
Material and Subcontractor Oversight:
Manage procurement, track material usage, and coordinate subcontractor activities. Ensure all involved parties are aligned and delivering to project requirements.
Identify Opportunities for Growth:
Proactively identify change orders, recommend system improvements, and support additional scope development during project execution.
Support Project Closeout and Service Transition:
Ensure all documentation is wrapped up, the system is commissioned properly, and service teams are set up for a smooth handoff.
Champion Safety:
Enforce high safety standards for employees, subcontractors, and clients throughout every stage of the project.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s in Engineering (or related technical degree) with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with equivalent field and engineering background
5+ years of hands-on experience in the construction or building automation industry
Familiarity with labor practices and subcontractor management
Ability to lead independently while knowing when to collaborate or escalate
Strong understanding of control systems (ALC preferred) and programming basics—or the ability to self-learn quickly
Excellent communicator with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
Proven track record of managing project financials, timelines, and customer expectations
A mindset of integrity, ownership, and continuous improvement
